WIC Farmers Market
Nutrition Program

Farmers Market Checks will be available starting June 1, 2025

Cherry Tomatoes

The WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program provides WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) participants with checks to purchase healthy, fresh, local produce from participating farms in Pennsylvania.

You may hear the Farmers Market Nutrition Program referred to as FMNP, SFMNP (for seniors), Farmers Market Checks, Farmers Market Vouchers or Farmers Market Coupons.

Already have your FMNP checks or deciding if you'd like to get them?

Check out our locations guide to find a participating farm near you:

How Do I Get WIC FMNP?

If you participate in WIC , you are eligible for three $10 Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) checks in addition to your regular WIC benefits, for a total of $30. You are also eligible for $30 worth of checks for each child age 6 months to 5 years.

You receive FMNP Checks during your quarterly WIC appointment between June and September. Checks can be used from June 1st through Nov. 30th. Ask your WIC manager for checks or to learn more!

How Do I Shop with FMNP Checks?

Once you receive your WIC FMNP Checks, using them is easy!

Simply take your checks to a participating location between June 1st and November 30th and select the eligible produce you would like to purchase.

When you’re ready to pay, sign your check and hand it to the farmer. You can not receive change so be sure to use the entire value of the check!

If you have any questions about using your checks, farmers or market info tents are more than happy to help.

What Can I Get With FMNP Checks?

Watermelons

FMNP checks can only be used with participating farmers at farmers markets and their farm stands.

Checks can not be used at grocery stores or local farms that have not signed up to accept FMNP. You can use your vouchers at any participating location in Pennsylvania and there are many options right here in the Lehigh Valley!

Checks can be used to purchase fresh, unprepared fruits and vegetables grown in Pennsylvania.

Ex. tomatoes, strawberries, cilantro, corn, apples, broccoli, lettuce, cabbage, watermelon, and peppers!

Unprepared means the produce can not be cooked, cut, or processed in any way. Pro-Tip: It will look the same as when its picked from the field! For example, you may use your vouchers to buy a quart of fresh apples, but you can not use your vouchers to buy apple cider, apple slices, or applesauce.

You may not use vouchers for fruits and vegetables that can't be grown in Pennsylvania

Ex. citrus fruits, bananas, plantains, avocados

You may not use vouchers for non-produce foods like meat, bread, dairy, eggs, prepared or processed foods.

The best time to shop is in peak season from the end of June-mid September. Learn about what produce is available in the Lehigh Valley throughout the season with this handy Harvest Calendar!
